Implant Retained Overdentures for the GP: The removeable, implant prosthodontic standard of care for over 20 years

The 2002 McGill consensus statement, recommending mandibular two-implant overdentures as the first-choice standard of care for edentulous patients, ushered in a new era of care for patients who had struggled for many years with conventional prostheses. For the first time in its history, the world of removable prosthodontics gained a significant body of clinical outcome data to support recommending this treatment modality. A series of case histories will highlight the diagnostic criteria, treatment planning sequence of care and the associated maintenance involved in providing this treatment modality.
