Hard tissue augmentation utilizing GBR techniques for optimal volume and esthetics
Course Overview:
Guided bone regeneration is commonly used as a predictable and reliable method to restore proper bone height and width. Excessive resorption of the alveolar bone threatens the structural, functional and esthetic outcomes of implant placement. Participants will learn various techniques for augmenting bone defects and how to properly identify products and protocols to achieve the most desired outcome. In the latter half of the program, participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge from the lecture portion in a didactic hands-on segment utilizing pig jaws.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this course, the participant will…
- Understand techniques for augmenting horizontal and minor vertical bone defects
- Formulate a classification criteria and step-by-step approach to achieving predictable results
- Gain an understanding of the basic principles of GBR and the surgical fundamentals for predictable results.
- Know how to use resorbable and non-resorbable membranes and their fixation using sutures, pins/tacks, and screws.
- Recognize various complications and how to address them
