Genesis: Implant Retained Overdentures for the GP
Implant Retained Overdentures for the GP: The removeable, implant prosthodontic standard of care for over 20 years
The 2002 McGill consensus statement, recommending mandibular two-implant overdentures as the first-choice standard of care for edentulous patients, ushered in a new era of care for patients who had struggled for many years with conventional prostheses. For the first time in its history, the world of removable prosthodontics gained a significant body of clinical outcome data to support recommending this treatment modality. This one-day program will provide general dentists with a profound understanding of what it means to be completely edentulous as well as how patients with a terminal dentition can benefit from the transition to an implant retained overdenture. A series of case histories will highlight the diagnostic criteria, treatment planning sequence of care and the associated maintenance involved in providing this treatment modality. A hands-on training exercise will help familiarize general dentists with the implant prosthodontic components involved.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the reality of the Completely Edentulous Predicament
- Work through the steps involved in Overdenture Treatment Planning
- Gain a better understanding of the required implant overdenture maintenance as well as the management of common complications
- Become familiar with the implant prosthodontic components required for the prescription of implant retained overdentures
