Zygomatic implants from start to finish

Sep 10, 2022
Snohomish, WA, US
Dr Shuaib Malik
Traditionally, a severely resorbed maxilla with sinus pneumatization would need multiple surgeries including sinus augmentation/lifts and bone grafts to rebuild enough bone mass to create a sufficient foundation for traditional dental implant placement. In severely resorbed cases, zygomatic implants are the only possibility to rehabilitate the patient immediately. Zygomatic implants have been an evidence-based surgical and prosthetic solution since 1999. With the development of the zygomatic implant, the placement of Brånemark System® Zygoma implants has been simplified, which has eliminated the need for bone grafting altogether. Zygomatic implants are developed for the graftless approach in which the implant is directly loaded into the zygomatic bone bilaterally, combined with two to four conventional anterior implants loaded within the alveolar bone, allowing for immediate load and function of a fixed implant-supported prosthesis. Zygomatic implants have revolutionized traditional dental implant techniques and considerations for the severely atrophic patient minimizing surgeries, healing, and overall treatment time. This presentation will discuss critical factors from work-up and pretreatment planning to important considerations for providing an immediate fixed implant-supported restoration. Learning Outcomes: - Understand pretreatment planning, including considerations for the provisional prosthesis. – Be able to review anatomical and biological considerations of the maxilla and zygomatic bone. – Become familiar with and understand the three basic techniques for zygoma implant placement: inter-sinus, extra sinus, and extra-maxillary. – Go over recorded surgical video with live Q&A for detailed understanding. – Discuss management of complications and maintenance of zygomatic implants. – Be familiar with prosthetic solutions for zygomatic implants.

Optimal treatment solution for the edentulous patient: Using software to plan3D navigation cases for the using the All-on-4® treatment concept

Oct 29, 2022
Beverly Hills, CA, US
Dr Ken Parrish

Navigated technology has demonstrated the predictability of static guides without many of the challenges/limitations. Three-dimensional navigated implant placement offers much more than routine surgical accuracy and precision. The intuitive software interface makes planning rapid and simple. Patient-satisfying immediacy can then become a realistic routine option. The plan should also be used for education as it allows patients to see their specific condition and appreciate anatomic risks as a necessary prerequisite for informed consent. Just as importantly, demonstrating the technology to the patient is a great practice builder. Educated patients expect to see technology-driven practices and are more likely to gain confidence and place their trust in a progressive dental practice.

The All-on-4® treatment concept offers a viable and cost-effective implant-based solution for edentulous jaws that produces immediate patient satisfaction. This course will present a surgical and prosthetic overview of the All-on-4® treatment concept, using software to plan 3D navigation during the surgery.

Learning outcomes

After this course, the participant will understand...

– The workflow of 3D navigated implant placement from diagnostics through planning and surgical delivery. Included will be how to make any necessary adjustments to the plan even mid-surgery.

– Implant placement, even in immediate sites, can be accurate and precise with real-time feedback and tactile sensitivity maintained. This is critical in cases where bone density has to be monitored during the osteotomy when primary stability with immediate provisionalization is a goal.

– How the efficiency of navigated implant placement using X-Guide® allows routine treatment of patients even on an immediate urgent/emergent basis.

– What prosthetically driven surgical planning can do to improve referral communication and satisfaction and strengthen the referral relationship while growing the practice.
