EAO 2016

September 29 - October 1, 2016

Location: Paris, France

Integrating new technology with existing practice tools was a key topic at the 2016 EAO Congress in Paris, France, with the new On1 restorative concept in focus.

Event highlights

The On1 restorative concept7 was unveiled at Nobel Biocare’s Global Symposium in June and since then has attracted significant interest. This was again the case at the 2016 European Association Osseointegration (EAO) Congress.

The On1 restorative concept was showcased at the Nobel Biocare booth at the event, together with other innovations including the creos xenogain bovine bone matrix7.

One of the experts behind the On1 concept, Dr. Bernard Touati, who is based in Paris, held a one-on-one Q&A session at EAO, answering delegates' questions on the concept. He then took to the stage during the Nobel Biocare Satellite Symposium to further explore the clinical benefits offered by this new solution.

The symposium was moderated by another Paris-based clinician, Dr. Hadi Antoun. Preceding Dr. Touati on stage was Dr. Bart Vandenberghe from Belgium, who discussed the key considerations when using CBCT scanners for diagnostic imaging.

All-on-4® experts share their knowledge

The second half of the session focused on refining approaches for managing the terminal and failing dentition with the All-on-4® treatment concept. After advice on effectively communicating the benefits of the All-on-4® approach to patients, Germany’s Dr. Hannes Wachtel handed over to renowned All-on-4® treatment concept pioneer Dr. Paulo Malo.

Dr. Malo presented the options for effective, esthetic restorations with the All-on-4® treatment concept, and its evolution thanks to developments such as an extended line of NobelSpeedy implants and the introduction of the Multi-unit Abutment Plus7.

The All-on-4® treatment concept was also the theme of Nobel Biocare’s sold-out hands-on session at the congress, hosted by Dr. Malo’s colleague Dr. Armando Lopes. Dr. Lopes took attendees through the steps for converting a denture into an immediate temporary bridge for All-on-4® patients.

Emerging technology
The lectures will cover the integration of existing and emerging technology for meaningful clinical application in daily practice routine. What is available today, what is coming and which aspects are not yet solved? The lectures will focus on practical examples and overall patient benefits from interdisciplinary treatment teams already taking advantage of these technologies and solutions. Clinical opportunities presented by innovations like the new On1 restorative concept will be covered.

Refinements in managing the terminal and failing dentition
The All-on-4® treatment concept continues to evolve. Dental professionals must understand how to manage rehabilitation strategies for patients with varying levels of bone resorption. The edentulous patient population is growing and will continue to present opportunities that will challenge even the most skilled surgeon and team. The experts will present new solutions developed to meet the clinical needs of these patients.

Tilting implants to maximise available bone offers many advantages. But how should you plan the provisional and final bridges for the best possible outcomes? How valuable is the protocol for immediate provisionalisation? Using a model, learn the steps for placing implants and converting a denture into a provisional bridge.
