2016 – the year when innovation came to life

by: Chris Kendall

Happy holidays and season’s greetings from everyone at Nobel Biocare. We hope 2016 has been as great a year for you, your patients and your partners, as it has been for us. There’s no better time, now that 2017 is in sight, to take a brief look back at what’s made 2016 a year to remember.

When innovation came to life…

Education, practice building and superior solutions. These all came together at the apex of 2016 – the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium. Over 2,000 dental professionals joined us in New York City at this triennial event, to experience hands-on training and master classes, and to witness the unveiling of our latest innovations in dental implant technology. A highlight of the show gave a glimpse into the future: a digitally-enabled practice, showcasing exhibitors’ latest technology in diagnostics, treatment planning and guided surgery – plus potential innovations to come.

Thank you to all who joined us to make it such a great event – see some of the highlights below.

Discover some of the innovations launched in 2016:

CAD software for dental labs The new NobelDesign CAD software offers dental technicians powerful CAD tools with an intuitive and adaptive interface.

The evolution of NobelProcera This included the first in a series of options in a new high-translucency multilayered full-contour zirconia material, which possess exceptional properties, combining high strength with excellent esthetics.

creos xenogain Our outstanding regenerative solutions portfolio expanded further in 2016 with creos xenogain, a deproteinized bovine bone mineral matrix for guided bone and guided tissue regeneration procedures.

Advancing edentulous solutions for patients in need

When the first patient was treated with the All-on-4® treatment concept in 1998, it was seen as a radical development – even disregarded as too good to be true. Yet by 2016, 34 clinical studies had been conducted since its launch and hundreds of thousands of patients have benefitted from the treatment.

All-on-4 treatment concept online course

As we look ahead, the global market for implant dentistry is on a continued course of growth, and this treatment challenges some of the key barriers to patient acceptance. For clinicians discovering this flagship treatment concept for the first time, this year we launched new online training, free of charge.

The first step on a new journey to growth

Brånemark enters National Inventors Hall of Fame

P-I Branemark

Finally, 2016 brought reason to celebrate and to reflect. Twenty-five years ago this year, on May 19, 1991, a US patent was granted to Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s groundbreaking dental implant technology. Marking this 25-year anniversary, the late Prof. Brånemark was formally entered into most exclusive circle of inventors, the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
