On1 restorative concept

Place with confidence, restore with ease

What is the On1 concept?

The unique On1 Base moves the restorative platform of Nobel Biocare conical connection implants from bone level to tissue level. It remains in position from implant placement to finalization, which leaves the soft tissue undisturbed for optimized healing.

Main benefits include:

  • Preservation of the soft tissue attachment – the On1 Base stays in position during the entire restorative workflow and throughout the lifetime of the restoration.
  • Surgical flexibility – you can use the On1 concept with three different conical connection implant systems: NobelActive, NobelParallel and NobelReplace.
  • Restorative ease of use – the connection is placed at tissue level and temporary abutments are delivered with a pre-mounted handle.
  • IOS workflow – using the special On1 IOS (Intraoral Scannable) Healing Cap speeds up the impression taking process.

The On1 workflows

The On1 concept provides you with the option to follow the conventional impression taking workflow or to follow the intraoral scan workflow using the special On1 IOS (Intraoral Scannable) Healing Cap. See below the two different workflows step by step.

On1 concept using the conventional impression taking workflow

The On1 Base stays in position while the healing cap, temporary restoration, impression coping and final restoration are placed.

On1 concept using the intraoral scan workflow

The On1 Base stays in position while the IOS (Intraoral Scannable) Healing Cap and final restoration are placed.

The On1 components

The On1 Base

With two height options available, there is the flexibility to change the On1 Base depending on the thickness of the soft tissue. Unlike with traditional tissue-level implants, this makes it possible to optimize short- and long-term esthetic outcomes.

The On1 connection

The On1 connection is designed to make the attachment of restorative components as straightforward as possible. The six hex lobes provide flexibility to place the restorative components in the desired position.

On1 Healing Caps for two workflows

Depending on your desired workflow, the On1 concept provides a conventional healing cap or an IOS healing cap, which doubles as an intraoral scan abutment.

On1 temporary solution

With the On1 Temporary Abutment you are able to provide your patient with a screw-retained provisional restoration on the day of surgery.

On1 final solutions

Depending on the indication or preference, you can choose a cement or screw-retained final restoration.

User experiences

Dr. Bernard Touati, France

“This unique concept offers an undisturbed mucosal seal, combined with platform switching for a long-term soft tissue stability”

Eric Rompen

Prof. Eric Rompen, Belgium

“The On1 concept is great for both surgeons and restorative clinicians, as it provides surgical flexibility along with soft tissue biocompatibility, but also provides a simplified restorative workflow and great ease of use with a tissue-level connection.”

Interview with On1 concept inventors

Melker Nilsson, Executive Vice President Global Sales and Customer Development at Nobel Biocare, sat down with the two inventors of the On1 concept, Dr. Bernard Touati and Prof. Eric Rompen, to talk about why there is a need for this new concept in implant dentistry.
