Nobel Biocare guidelines set industry standards

by: Jim Mack

Nobel Biocare is proud to announce the publication of cleaning and sterilization guidelines that set a new standard in the dental industry.

These comprehensive, downloadable guidelines show clinicians, step by step, how to clean, disinfect, inspect and sterilize Nobel Biocare devices according to validated processes, giving them the confidence they need that the products being used are safe for their patients and staff.

In addition, the guidelines contain information on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, allowing radiologists to perform safe imaging of patients with dental restorations; and an extensive set of pictures of new, used and worn instruments that help dental professionals determine whether a device has reached the end of its shelf life.

The cleaning and sterilization guidelines are divided into three main parts:

‒ The introduction contains an explanation of symbols, a definition of terms, and, uniquely within the dental industry, information on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. This allows radiologists to perform safe imaging of patients with dental restorations.

‒ The actual cleaning and sterilization guidelines are structured according to the workflows in the dental practice or clinic – from preparation and disassembly to cleaning and disinfection to sterilization and storage.

‒ The appendix helps clinical staff to determine whether a device has reached the end of its shelf life by showing pictures of new, used and worn instruments.
