Program Introduction

This introductory modular program is intended for young dental professionals who want to learn how to place and restore implants in a safe and predictable manner. With the guidance of a professional mentor and an intensive evidence-based approach, this program will extend your treatment planning sequencing to incorporate sound surgical, restorative and maintenance protocols within implant dentistry.

This 2-day program is for the beginner and experienced treatment coordinators, as well as anyone in the dental profession looking to grow the practice, achieve higher case acceptance and build team cohesion. Upon completing this 2-day program, all participants will receive a certificate demonstrating commitment to providing professionalism and knowledge to their patients

Prerequisite (but not mandated): Nobel Biocare’s Implant Treatment Coordinator Program: Building Trust With Your Patients

In this program, participants will:

- Receive an overview of the evolution of dental implants 

- Participate in role-playing case presentations exercises

- Review the entire patient journey and learn to understand the value of how dental implants can restore well-being 

n this course, Karen Young will review the foundations of Building Trust With Your Patients and will expand on:

 - Patient communication strategies

- Developing a consultation area and environment 

- Clinical procedures and treatment planning

- Terminology and definitions related to implant dentistry

- Referral and Laboratory communication

- Documentation: Risk management, record-keeping, informed consent

- Bone grafting: Where, how and why

- Insurance questions from patients

- Follow-up systems with patients

- Marketing dental implants 

- Case presentation

Follow the surgical team in a unique educational setting by participating in real life implant treatment at a clinic. Take the opportunity to participate over-the-shoulder of a surgeon. During a whole day you will follow the routines in a surgical practice. These experts are willing to share their experience with you and your team. The arrangement could be a custom-made program focusing on specific topics in lecture format, or watching the clinicians treat their own patients.

There are a lot of special precautions when we do dental implants at the posterior maxillary and mandibular region. It’s never meant to be very easy, although not esthetically as important when compare with the implant in the esthetic zone. All sorts of posterior problems such as the ID nerve and lingual nerve, the maxillary sinus, the proximity to the throat and airway, the accessibility due to the cheek and the tongue makes placing dental implant in this region more challenging. Moreover, there are unique resorption pattern such as maxillary sinus pneumontization and the typical knife edge posterior mandibular ridge and loss of vertical bone volume sometimes made dental implant placement very difficult and risky.

This course aims to walk you through the journey of knowing the limitation, pre-operative assessment and decision marking when doing dental implant at the posterior region of the jaw. Bone augmentation at this area will be mentioned as well as immediate placement. We hope to give you some up-to-date evidence based practical tips during the 2 days learning. Live surgical demonstration, hands-on practical sessions and case base small group discussions will also be provided, hoping to make the course more interactive. We will see you there!
