Nobel Biocare announces new Medal of Excellence in Implant Dentistry – Nominations now open

Zurich, Switzerland – Nobel Biocare, a global leader in implant-based dental solutions, announces the launch of the Medal of Excellence in Implant Dentistry Award, a prestigious new accolade recognizing exceptional contributions to the field of implant dentistry.
Officially announced at the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium in Las Vegas, this new award is now open for submissions online, and will honor individuals or organizations who have led projects in one of two areas:

  • Innovation Advancing treatment solutions or protocols in the field of implant dentistry that can enable clinicians to treat more patients better.
  • Humanitarianism Improving the quality of life for people in need by providing dental implant treatments that extend beyond the usual scope of the daily practice.

The judging committee is chaired by Prof. Tomas Albrektsson, who has been a pioneer in dental implantology for almost 60 years, and was mentored by the inventor and founder of Nobel Biocare, Prof. P-I Brånemark.
Alongside Prof. Albrektsson, the committee consists of international expert clinicians, Prof. Joseph Kan (US), Dr. Chandur Wadhwani (US), Dr. Glen Liddelow (Australia), Prof. James Chow (China), Dr. Giacomo Fabbri (Italy), and Dr. Lesley David (Canada).

Stefan Nilsson, President of Nobel Biocare, emphasized the significance of the award:
"Nobel Biocare is proud to establish the Medal of Excellence in Implant Dentistry, a prestigious annual recognition honoring an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the field of dental implantology. Each year, this exclusive recognition will celebrate either pioneering innovation or significant humanitarian service, ultimately improving patient care and advancing dentistry."
The runners-up of the award will be announced in December, and the winner will be announced in February 2026.
