Posterior Know-how-Interactive training course

-
CN-91, HK
Dr Alfred Lau
Dr Jack Ji
Course overview There are a lot of special precautions when we do dental implants at the posterior maxillary and mandibular region. It’s never meant to be very easy, although not esthetically as important when compare with the implant in the esthetic zone. All sorts of posterior problems such as the ID nerve and lingual nerve, the maxillary sinus, the proximity to the throat and airway, the accessibility due to the cheek and the tongue makes placing dental implant in this region more challenging. Moreover, there are unique resorption pattern such as maxillary sinus pneumontization and the typical knife edge posterior mandibular ridge and loss of vertical bone volume sometimes made dental implant placement very difficult and risky. This course aims to walk you through the journey of knowing the limitation, pre-operative assessment and decision marking when doing dental implant at the posterior region of the jaw. Bone augmentation at this area will be mentioned as well as immediate placement. We hope to give you some up-to-date evidence based practical tips during the 2 days learning. Live surgical demonstration, hands-on practical sessions and case base small group discussions will also be provided, hoping to make the course more interactive. We will see you there! Topics will include - Decision making on posterior region - Tooth extraction skills, implant placement, and restorative options - Posterior dental implant soft tissue management - Immediate implant placement in posterior region - Challenges to implant placement - Other skills for posterior region – sinus lift, bone grafting, socket grafting - Complication on dental implant surgery

GalvoSurge – Moderne Therapie der Periimplantitis

-
Forchheim, DE
PD Dr. Dr. Markus Schlee
Dr. Florian Rathe

Incorporating navigated implant placement into a practice-building digital workflow

May 21, 2021
Farmington, CT, US
Dr Ken Parrish

Navigated technology has demonstrated the predictability of static guides without many of the challenges/limitations. Three-dimensional navigated implant placement offers much more than routine surgical accuracy and precision. The intuitive software interface makes planning rapid and simple. Patient-satisfying immediacy can then become a realistic routine option. The plan should also be used for education as it allows patients to see their specific condition and appreciate anatomic risks as a necessary prerequisite for informed consent. Just as importantly, demonstrating the technology to the patient is a great practice builder. Educated patients expect to see technology-driven practices and are more likely to gain confidence and place their trust in a progressive dental practice.

Learning outcomes

After this course, the participant will understand...

 – The workflow of 3D navigated implant placement from diagnostics through planning and surgical delivery. Included will be how to make any necessary adjustments to the plan even mid-surgery.

 – Implant placement, even in immediate sites, can be accurate and precise with real-time feedback and tactile sensitivity maintained. This is critical in cases where bone density has to be monitored during the osteotomy when primary stability with immediate provisionalization is a goal.

 – How the efficiency of navigated implant placement using X-Guide® allows routine treatment of patients even on an immediate urgent/emergent basis.

 – What prosthetically driven surgical planning can do to improve referral communication and satisfaction and strengthen the referral relationship while growing the practice.

Zygomatic Implants: Changing the way you think and plan your upper full arch cases

May 22, 2021
Elizabeth, NJ, US
Dr Anthony Sallustio
Dr Ankur Johri
Zygomatic implants, once thought of as a “bail out” procedure, have become a mainstay in full-arch treatment for the atrophic maxilla. Literature review supports longterm success of zygomatic implants. A traditional Allon-4® modality has limited applications in patients with severe atrophy or anteriorly pneumatized maxillary sinuses. Zygomatic implants can be placed to bypass the maxillary sinuses when there is inadequate dentoalveolar bone for conventional implants. With the assortment of Multi-unit Abutment options (now with Xeal™ coating) – restoration of zygomatic implants is easier than ever. With the DTX Studio™ software, planning of zygomatic implants and evaluation of critical anatomic landmarks can be performed prior to surgery. This modality results in high patient satisfaction due to its shortened treatment time and high predictably of immediate loading. The program will include a didactic and handson component. The surgeon will use the Nobel Biocare zygomatic implant surgical kit to place zygomatic implants on a skull model. The prosthetic components needed to take the case to completion will also be reviewed. After completing the course, the participant will... − Know indications for zygoma implants. − Select cases appropriate for zygoma implants both clinically and radiographically. − Understand the pertinent surgical anatomy in the zygoma region. − Plan zygoma cases using DTX Studio™ software. − Understand the zygoma surgical kit. − Understand the prosthetic parts of the zygoma system. − Practice the surgical placement of zygomatic implants on a skull model. − Understand the restorative technique for zygoma implants. − Manage post-operative complications.
