GalvoSurge Dental Cleaning System GS 1000: early clinical experience

Date: Thursday, April 25
Time: 17.00-17:30
Location: Forum 2
Language: English
Speaker: Dr. Markus Schlee (Germany)

Introduction

When dental implant surfaces are exposed to the oral cavity, biofilms may arise. In such cases, dental implant cleaning may be necessary to remove harmful biofilms, manage the risk of peri-implant disease and facilitate re-osseointegration.

Several cleaning methods are available, including: laser ablation, scraping with curettes or titanium brushes together with saline-soaked cotton pellets, high-pressure sprays, polishing with diamond burs, antiseptics and antibiotics. While these methods disrupt biofilm integrity from the outside, they may not completely remove contaminants. Some techniques may also damage implant surfaces or leave deposits that impair re-osseointegration.

GalvoSurge Dental Cleaning System GS 1000

To address patient and clinician needs for a more-effective, efficient method for cleaning titanium implant surfaces, GalvoSurge has been developed.

GalvoSurge acts directly at the implant surface using electrolysis to remove contaminants. GalvoSurge is designed to clean implants irrespective of their manufacturing process or surface roughness, without altering surface properties or disturbing bone. Clinical investigations of GalvoSurge are ongoing and early clinical experience will be presented.
