Today marks the official opening of the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium in Madrid, Spain. The first of three Global Symposia, which will be followed by Las Vegas 2020 and Asia-Pacific 2021, it is a landmark occasion for the whole of implant dentistry.

I would, however, like to briefly look at this from a personal perspective. I have been a dental professional for over twenty years. Starting as a dental technician, I went on to establish my own dental laboratory chain, before joining the Nobel Biocare speakers community, helping build the knowledge of peers in dental technology. This is what led me to work full-time with Nobel Biocare focusing on research and development, and ultimately, being proud to take on the role of President in 2016. Similarly, my colleague Prof. Stefan Holst, who now leads the research and development of new Nobel Biocare products, entered the field over two decades ago as a prosthodontist. This was in parallel to his continuous academic research in implantology. I am also supported by so many associates here at Nobel Biocare who are experienced practitioners and advanced academics.

We might be a global business, but our sense of purpose has important roots in our own practical experience. Knowing first-hand the needs of the clinicians, technicians and patients that we serve, which, without having been immersed in practice, would not be possible to truly appreciate.

This is one reason why I am so proud to be part of this Madrid event where we introduce the most important innovation from Nobel Biocare in twenty years. An innovation that we have created to address fundamental demands of implant dentistry in just one implant system. A completely new solution to simplify the treatment process and enable greater patient comfort, all with a biologically driven design for the desired clinical outcomes.

I am sure that, in the future, other manufacturers will try to mimic this development, as has been the case for many other innovations: NobelActive. The All-on-4® treatment concept. Immediate Function. The list goes on. But at Nobel Biocare, we follow no one. We work constantly to design new solutions to improve treatments that patients and professionals really need.

Nobel Biocare’s brand revitalization reflects our commitment to restoring patients’ smiles – for life

As mentioned earlier this year, we have been gradually undergoing a complete brand revitalization, which began in March 2019 with the launch of our new logo at IDS in Cologne, Germany. This is fully unveiled in Madrid, including our new website.

Developed in close collaboration with our associates and customers, our new brand reflects who we are, what we believe in, and what we stand for as an organization and company. This is a true reflection of our culture. All we do – every product, every process, every solution, every initiative – is guided by our determination to innovate and meet the unmet needs of our customers and their patients.

Join us in Las Vegas 2020 and Asia-Pacific 2021

If you have not been able to join us in Madrid, you will be pleased to know that, given the significance of the innovations we are introducing, the Global Symposium will take place over three consecutive years, in Las Vegas 2020 and Asia-Pacific 2021. As well as the new implant system and the busy training schedules, a wealth of important solutions will be available for you to experience, including the new abutment and implant surfaces, Xeal and TiUltra, and the digital ecosystem of DTX Studio, which seamlessly connects the whole treatment process from beginning to end.

I look forward to seeing you at a future Nobel Biocare Global Symposium.
