1. New solutions set to shape the future of patient care
The original All-on-4® treatment concept is already a proven full-arch solution with the potential to change lives. Now, new componentry on show at IDS keeps it at the forefront of care for edentulous patients. The snap-fit function of the new Multi-unit Abutment Plus can save significant time during the denture try-in process by removing the need for screws. In addition, the expanded NobelSpeedy implant family and the recently introduced NobelZygoma zygomatic implants are designed to make it possible for even more patients to benefit from the All-on-4® treatment concept.
Visitors to IDS were also offered an early look at Trefoil – a new solution for the edentulous mandible that Nobel Biocare will bring to the market later this year. With Trefoil, a fixed, definitive, full-arch restoration is possible on the day of surgery. This is thanks to a revolutionary prefabricated, passively fitting framework on three implants and a cost-effective restorative workflow. A prospective clinical multi-center study with Trefoil is already underway, and feedback from the clinicians involved has been extremely positive.
2. Soft tissue protections meets reduced chair time
At IDS new developments were also revealed for the On1 concept – the innovative modular solution that connects the surgical and prosthetic workflows. The On1 Base connects to the implant at surgery and stays in place throughout the lifetime of the restoration, leaving the soft tissue undisturbed to optimize healing.
Currently available for single teeth, at IDS Nobel Biocare previewed an extension of the concept for short-span implant bridges.
The On1 concept offers clinicians peace of mind. As only precision-engineered Nobel Biocare components can be used with the On1 Base, it removes any risks associated with ill-fitting third-party abutments.
For a restorative clinician, the On1 Base can mean an improved experience for the patient, as the discomfort associated with the recurrent exchange of components such as healing abutments can be completely avoided. With the On1 IOS Healing Cap supporting an intraoral scanning approach, conventional impression-taking procedures for delivery of the final crown are no longer required, helping to save valuable time.
3. A screw-retained CAD/CAM provisional – now on the day of surgery
The next phase of Nobel Biocare’s integrated treatment workflow was unveiled at IDS. Launching in CE-mark-accepting countries this summer, the updated workflow has been developed to improve collaboration between treatment partners while increasing both treatment efficiency and acceptance. It will offer a time-efficient protocol for providing screw-retained provisionals on the day of surgery through the fully digital design and in-lab production of a TempShell temporary restoration.
4. New NobelProcera restorations for predictable quality and fast results
IDS also saw the launch of NobelProcera precision-milled implant bridges in high-translucency multilayered zirconia. With the angulated screw channel (ASC) innovation and completely cement-free adapters, this new NobelProcera option offers a fast, predictable and cost-efficient solution for both dental laboratory and clinic.
The NobelProcera launches did not stop there, with precision-milled bridges in the same full-contour zirconia also unveiled at IDS. Following the recent introduction of the NobelProcera Crown in the same material, this launch harmonizes the NobelProcera offering. The new range efficiently combines high-strength with esthetics and a time-saving workflow, as the dental technician need only apply subtle staining, if desired, before polishing and glazing.
5. Connecting all aspects of modern dentistry – introducing DTX Studio
In Cologne Nobel Biocare and KaVo unveiled a partnership to revolutionize the way dental professionals connect with patients and each other. Together, these two leading dental innovators presented equipment and software solutions marking the next level of connectivity between treatment steps.
Whether on Mac® or Windows®, the new DTX Studio diagnostic software, launching in fall 2017, will serve as a digital hub connecting the latest Nobel Biocare and KaVo solutions across patient data digitization, diagnosis, planning, surgery and restoration. DTX Studio is also set to offer easy access to industry-leading implants and restorative options. By providing true, seamless links between every aspect of a dental professional’s daily work, DTX Studio aims to set a new standard in treatment efficiency and patient care.
