Introducing the new NobelReplace Conical Connection and NobelReplace Platform Shift

As a straight Nobel MK III addict user of many years, I was asked to try out the new Nobel Biocare implants NobelReplace Conical Connection as well as NobelReplace Platform Shift. I was surprised by the easy way of placing and very accurate drilling procedure using only a little number of drills. Even in extraction alveoli, the initial stability was very high and by the form the implant-bone gap appeared minimal. Having placed now 10 implants in this pre-launch program, I am convinced of the advantages of these new implants.

The precision of placement as well as the ease-of-use, which augments patient comfort, is a great advantage. In the esthetic zone it is a great advantage that the precise depth of placement as well as the direction can be observed and corrected before placing the implant itself.

The new NobelReplace Conical Connection implant involves a change in the platform and a conical seal that minimizes micro-movements and the micro-gap, fostering an improved integration with soft tissue around implant restorations. I believe NobelReplace Conical Connection is the best choice for post-extraction immediate implant placement, because it allows, for example in the frontal area of the upper maxillary, an improved conservation of the osseous papillae and therefore the gingival papillae too. Conical connection with built-in platform shifting maintains and sometimes improves the quantity of bone, and enables the thickness and the health of the soft tissue around implants and restorations. From a prosthetic point of view, the internal conical connection is esthetically highly versatile with 6 options for abutment positioning. NobelReplace Tapered users will recognize the easy-to-use drill protocol, since this stays unchanged. One difference to the NobelReplace Tapered we already know is the implant driver – this comes from NobelActive, but shouldn’t pose any difficulties since this is just as easy to use. Hence, for existing NobelReplace users the usual adaptation time to use the new implant is minimal.  

NobelActive users should also find it simple to learn to use NobelReplace Conical Connection. They will already know the abutment connection and prosthetic components, and the tapered drill protocol is intuitive and easy to use.

Although NobelReplace Conical Connection is a new implant system with an advanced internal conical connection, clinicians and practice staff won’t have to adjust their work processes significantly, which is a nice advantage of this new implant.
